A Relationship Launch
Client: T-MobileCategory: Product rollout and endcap fixture
The Challenge
Although the ultimate solution PD provided for this project took the form of an endcap fixture, this project was about much more than a product launch. It was a relationship launch. It was about helping T-Mobile build new relationships with big retailers like Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco and Radio Shack. In short, the challenge was to help T-Mobile sell T-Mobile, and then execute the rollout on a ridiculously fast timeline.
Strong concepts foster confidence
To approach big retailers, T-Mobile needed to present some strong instore concepts. This is where our DesignLab came in. Our crisp, high impact renderings allowed T-Mobile to help retailers imagine a range of powerful instore scenarios.
A Radio Shack launch
One of the first retailers to join with T-Mobile was Radio Shack. The challenge involved redesigning the concepts to feature a full line of phones, including one of T-Mobile’s biggest launches of the year, the Google myTouch phone. Speed to market was a signifcant factor: by the time the new relationship was formalized, design, fabrication, assembly, kitting and delivery to 4,175 stores nationwide needed to be completed within 4 weeks.

Had even one part of this project been outsourced, meeting the delivery deadline would have been impossible. PD’s four complementary facilities, all within campus-like proxmity, demonstrated the advantage and convenience of true one-stop control and owner-supervised security.
